Discovering the band
Linkin Park is my favorite band since I discovered them. It was back in summer 2006, and I got nothing to do. I was nine years old back then, and I used to love Dragon Ball. Anyways my brother showed me the music video of Without Me by Eminem (I know, listening to Eminem at an early age isn't a good idea, but I didn't speak English so I had no idea of what the heck the lyrics meant). He found it funny so he showed to me. I kind of liked it too, so he showed me a couple of more songs, songs which I still listen to today.
Some days afterward I searched in the internet for a video of Dragon Ball with Eminem songs. Instead I found a clip with the perfect song, I liked it so much I downloaded the video, and I remember playing it just for the music. I had to know the name of the song, and I didn't know how! Then I looked at the file name, it was something like “dragonball_intheend.avi”. It was In The End. I got the song, and the artist too! I even showed the song to my friends, they said it was O.K... They didn't like that kind of music, fortunately some of them do today.
Then I moved to another country, and in a small period of time my brother listened to Linkin Park more than me, with a bunch of songs I didn't know (because I was into pop). Later on he moved on to Techno and Dubstep... I found a guy in my school that also liked the band as much as I do now.
Later on I moved again, but kept my music with me. I introduced the songs to my dad. Now he has all albums on iTunes. I went to a concert, the band came to the Singapore F1 2011. I really liked it because all the songs they performed sounded exactly the same as the studio albums, unlikely some pop artists I've seen... I ain't gonna mention any names. Everyone went nuts when the band started playing In The End! I can tell that it's the favorite of many, including me.
So that's the story, thanks to my brother I discovered this amazing music, and Eminem too. Even Dragon Ball, he encouraged me to give it a try and watch some episodes. Thanks Fran!

The music
In The End is still my favorite song of all time, I can't get get tired of it. The drum pattern, the lyrics, the piano's melody! It's perfect, I know the lyrics word by word, because of listening to it so many times. Sure I love a lot of other songs, and artists. But I usually listen to that song for a month or so and that's it. I admit I do not listen to In The End everyday, but if I choose to “shuffle” songs with my iPod and this one pops out, I'm sure I wouldn't skip it.
Linkin Park's songs are about life, and feelings. Not own experiences though. Is the first and only alternative rock band I know. I like how sometimes they mix with electronic and hip hop, in a smooth way you barely notice. The change is really visible. In the A Thousand Suns album booklet they explained the change was due to members leaving the band and some joining it. Honestly I like their latest work. I like how they link the songs, like one long song. This happens in A Thousand Suns and Living Things. These links are so natural that I always play the whole album from the beginning til the end.
Some album has a calm song. I personally like them all, makes the album unique! Like Shadow Of The Day in Minutes to Midnight, or Burning in the Skies in A Thousand Suns, Leave Out All The Rest in Minutes to Midnight too, Powerless and Castle Of Glass in Living Things. They do help when I'm depressed, hardly ever... but still.
I like listening to Linkin Park when I'm studying, at the GYM and on the way back home. At weekends, when we usually go to restaurants with my family, I play some good old Linkin Park songs in the car. My dad doesn't mind, he loves them too! My sister says she doesn't like the music because I listen to it all the time. She also says that she hates the band. She got really mad when I came back home with the album. I really don't believe her, I don't think she hates them. She just wants to brother around, saying how much she likes Justin Bieber...
My music interests are Rock, Pop, Alternative, Dubstep, even R&B. My favorite artists are David Guetta, Rihanna, Eminem, Pitbull, James Blunt, Skrillex, Hoobastank,a bit of Flo Rida, and, of course, Linkin Park. I am expanding my music library everytime, and I sometimes find a song that I like so I search more from the same artist. That's how I get obsessed with some songs for about a month, like I said before.
